Lange and Bassett both return for the finale. The trailer confirms it.

    I’m so excited!

Pointless, silly episode, but I made it this far, so I need to see how this all ends next week. Meh.

So We all agreed about the irrelevancy of the episode.

How did you decided that? It seems that you want to push your own opinion on people’s throats… Many people in this thread said that they enjoyed the episode. And just for your information, list all the bad adjectives you know without giving any real arguments is again your personal take and nothing else. Yes, episode 8 was weird and not as good as the rest, episode 9 was good and solid, not on the level of 1-7, but still good. The season has been amazing and is pretty obvious that this is what majority thinks if you look on Facebook or YouTube, so it does not need saving, if the finale is really good, it will be remember as one of the best or maybe even the best season, if it disappoints it can leave us with bittersweet feeling. And you cannot watch AHS looking for the writing quality of Mad Men, Breaking Bad or The Americans, it is not that kind of show and does not need to be.

I’ve never included whom didn’t respond to my comment. The best season will always be Asylum. And I’ve never tried to push my opinions on one’s throat. If I don’t like what I see I will say it, Your reducing AHS to a lower level, why shouldn’t it have Mad Man or BB writing??

There are so many plot holes in this season. Murphy isn’t really on AHS no more which explains why… the casting used to be so stellar the very first seasons and everybody used to be nominated at the Emmy, the show quality is dropping since Freak Show. I won’t argue about it with you.

I am not the one reducing it, it’s the show itself. Every show has clear intentions what wants to be and what kind of pretension has. AHS has always wanted to be fun, campy, to have crazy twists, impossible story-lines, etc. I adore Asylum, but it was a miracle, a season in which all the crazy and illogical things just worked magically, a little bit like Moulin Rouge that it should not be that good on the paper, but somehow it is. EVERY season since Asylum has have his good and bad moments depending on the taste of everyone, for me Freak Show and Hotel are the worst seasons by far, but they have great moments. Murphy and his team always start strong, good pilot, usually they have the best episode of the season in episode 5 and 6, and then is always a downhill because they always come with crazy and illogical things, with extravagant plots that came out of nowhere, with unnecessary plots and things that feel unnatural for the characters, they changed with any development, they did all that in Asylum and Murder House as well, but somehow worked. For me also worked here with the exception of the Romanovs part and the absurdity of Evans and Eichner characters. But yes, this show has never had or intend to have the quality of Mad Man or BB writing.

Well that was really a powerful ending. Really impressed by the performances. It was a battle between good and evil all along. The last 5 minutes felt weird but confirmed Vivien’s words. The Antichrist is not just Michael, but a dark entity choosing to live in one’s soul. Definitely the best finale they’ve done. Your heart will break & be mended. Bradley Buecker, once again directing, managed to wrap the story up in 45mins in the most satisfying way possible. Really gonna miss AHS. This season has been very impressive and one of my favorites.

Personally, I think it was a decent conclusion to the story. I loved all the special guest stars whether their return made sense or not. I want Conroy, Lange and Bassett (even for that 2min screentime) nominated. A-

It was good enough but I have issues with the identity of the new antichrist. There was so much made about Michael being fathered by a ghost and in a place of such dark energy and presence and it was pretty anticlimactic to have his replacement be a random kid with no supernatural circumstances surrounding his conception or birth who was just thrown at us because we knew the parents. That was clumsy as hell. It’s also weird that the black priests managed to trace this seemingly normal family and normal kid so soon when it took them years to find Michael who had flashy red lights over his head proclaiming ANTICHRIST. Also, the actors playing the parents were bloody wooden. That is no way near the proper reaction to finding out your three-year-old murdered the nanny.

Frances Conroy was exceptional in this episode though. And I definitely want Cody Fern back. It’s a damn feat to make me feel sorry for Michael but damn if he didn’t sell that childlike confusion and fear. He and Jessica Lange play off each other really well.

THIS. Seriously… How are Conroy and Lange NOT getting nominated? The supporting actress category is theirs. Bates and Paulson definitely go lead.

A finale that was generally very enjoyable, and the level of quality of episodes 4, 5 & 6 (thought 7 was the peak). Surprisingly moving for AHS actually when Cordelia sacrifices herself.

LOVED Angela Bassett’s return which I think was simply for no other reason than Angela Bassett initially saying no, and then finding out that everyone else was in it, so wanting to make an appearance somehow. And she worked it! That heart looked tasty.

Lange was superb yet again – she solidifies her nomination for next year, but I still think Patty Clarkson will be hard to topple.

Thoughts for next season: PLEASE don’t bring Billy Eichner back… I am as big a fan of Billy on the Street you’ll find but his acting is absolutely dismal. Even in the brief moment their episode where Myrtle threatened him – just dire!

I also think that the time has come for a Kathy Bates centred season. She has done her time enough to get a wonderful leading part written for her – I think her and Frances should be the two leads as sisters! Also wouldn’t mind Evan Peters taking a year out… he could really have only been in the Tate flashback episode this season.

To take this thread circle, I think the opening credits should have gone:
    Sarah Pauslon
    Evan Peters
    Cody Fern
    Billie Lourd
    Emma Roberts
    With Frances Conroy
    And Kathy Bates

…I think Jessica Lange had more total screen time than Cheyenne Jackson!
